Program Information
The TJ BigSibs Program was created to help incoming freshman students transition into our community and to provide familiar faces in the crowds. The program is a stepping stone into social life at TJ as well as a medium of invaluable advice about all things TJ from experienced upperclassmen.
Not only does the BigSibs Program create partnerships between upperclassmen and incoming freshmen, we also creates "families" consisting of multiple pairings. This helps establish even more relationships between students as well as creates a support system for everyone involved.
Throughout the school year, BigSib Families will continue to meet from time to time to share experiences and advice on academics, sports, extracurriculars, internships, and much more. During the hectic weeks of Freshmen IBET presentations and papers, as well as the annual Robotics Competition, BigSib Families will be there to advise and encourage LittleSibs.
This year, the BigSibs Program will feature a stronger emphasis on mental health. Our BigSib Family Captains will all have taken official mental health training through FCPS. This way, all LittleSibs have someone knowledgeable available to them as a support.
